Lithium tetrafluoroborate is predominantly used in the following applications:

• Electrolyte in Lithium-Ion Batteries: Its high solubility and thermal stability make it suitable for use in lithium-ion batteries, where it can tolerate moisture better than other common electrolytes like lithium hexafluorophosphate.
• Catalyst in Organic Synthesis: It serves as a catalyst in various organic reactions, including Diels-Alder reactions and aza-Michael additions, enhancing reaction efficiency and selectivity.
• Laboratory Reagent: Due to its ability to release boron trifluoride upon decomposition, it is employed in synthetic chemistry as a source of this reagent.
