The biological activity of 4-Phenethylpiperidine is minimal. Studies have demonstrated that its potency at the mu-opioid receptor is significantly lower than that of fentanyl. For instance, research indicates that 100 µM of 4-ANPP activates the mu-opioid receptor comparably to a concentration of fentanyl that is approximately 100,000 times lower (0.001 µM) . This suggests that while it may have some marginal activity, it is largely biologically irrelevant in vivo due to its low abundance in drug preparations and negligible pharmacological effects.
