It has been linked to reproductive toxicity in wildlife, especially birds, where it causes eggshell thinning by impairing calcium deposition during egg formation. Additionally, there are concerns about its potential role in human health issues, including developmental toxicity and possible associations with certain cancers, although recent studies have provided mixed results regarding its link to breast cancer.
